Pull Over and Think
Thursday, April 1st, 2010Finally, a place to pull over and plant the kickstand for a few. What a ride it’s been since we last chatted. All I know is that the Ol’ Geezer Glide needs a bath because spring is in the air, and the events are rolling out. I can’t come rolling up on a dirty bike. Only thing is, it doesn’t matter how much I wash her there’s always a spot or two somewhere on it I seemed to have missed. A bug here, some dirt there. Like I tell folks, I didn’t buy this scoot to wash; I bought it to ride… Bike Bright, the BOMB, or whatever, man there’s all kinds of cleaning stuff out there. But no matter what I use, there is always somewhere I missed. I’m glad when it comes to my life it’s not up to me to clean it up completely. I think we all want to do good in life to some degree, but truth is no one can do good enough to be perfectly clean. The only thing that can do the ultimate wash on an old ragged soul is the blood of Jesus.
If that animal blood and the other rituals of purification were effective in cleaning up certain matters of our religion and behavior, think how much more the blood of Christ cleans up our whole lives, inside and out. Through the Spirit, Christ offered himself as an unblemished sacrifice, freeing us from all those dead-end efforts to make ourselves respectable, so that we can live all out for God. Hebrews 9:13-14
As Easter approaches, think about where you are heading right now, and what your life looks like. What’s the highway looking like up ahead of you? It’s OK to pull over and think about the storm on the horizon. God, unlike anyone else, understands us. Give Him a chance today to do an ultimate cleaning on you.
THE FBC NETWORK is wide open. We just finished a 5 day trip to Mississippi getting our FBC Southaven MS. church ready to roll. They are kicking off the church Easter Sunday. That’s so cool. Our Hickory FBC had its Kick-Start March 27 at the Blue Ridge HD. Fayetteville had a great ride with over 180 bikes in it put on by the Ol’ Timers’ to raise money for a building in the Fayetteville area. Asheville is working on their building as they are getting ready to move into it. Monroe has moved into their new joint, and it’s the BOMB! God is rocking their world. Check out any one of our FBC churches and see what great things the LORD is doing in the motorcycle community. Watch for new locations coming this summer to the Greenville, SC. and Greensboro, NC areas. Plus, look for FBC to roll into the Great North this summer or fall… Canada that is.
Well, time to hit the road, so until next time
